Pastor's Letter July 2012

Dear Friends

As the Summer Holiday season begins I have been reflecting on the life of Liberty Church and I have been greatly encouraged by what I see. In Thessalonians we read these words:

“We always thank God for all of you, mentioning you in our prayers. We continually remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labour prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ”
(1 Thess 1:2,3, NIV)

Paul is writing to a young church in Thessalonica, but a church which had really got hold of the Gospel and was living it out. As I look at our church I see a real desire in the body to live out the life that God has called us to, a hunger to experience more of God in our lives, to hear his voice, to believe he is who he says he is and he will do what he has promised. There is a growing sense of family within the church as we learn to both to give and to receive love, to give our time and resources to those in need and to make ourselves vulnerable in order that others may love and support us.

I see a growing desire to reach out beyond our church family into our community with practical acts of love and generosity, in ways that we believe will transform lives and open the way to sharing the hope of the Gospel with those around us.

I see an increasing awareness and involvement in the mission of God to this world in so many ways, through financial and prayerful support and also through personal involvement.

I also realise that the next few weeks offers most of us a time to stand back a little, to take a break from some of our church responsibilities and to be refreshed.
My hope and prayer for each of us is that over this Summer time we take the opportunity to draw near to God, to hear his voice, to allow his Holy Spirit to refresh, inspire and empower us to live out the lives he has made us for.

I am so grateful to be a part of Liberty Church as I see it grow and develop. Thank you for all you are and all you do. May God bless you richly in these next weeks.

Much love

Jon
