Pastor's Letter November 2013
Dear Friends
In last month’s letter I talked about how we each bring our gifts, talents, passions and personalities, those things that make us unique, to build up the body of Christ. This was powerfully illustrated for us last Sunday when we met as church together in the King Malcolm Hotel. Stan and Gill got us to write/draw our unique skills/passions on a piece of card and then took those cards, joining them together into one single cord with a ribbon running through the middle to signify Christ.
As I looked at the cards joined together, each one representing a different person within the church, from the very youngest to the oldest; each one contributing to the life of the church in their own way, I found myself both moved and excited at the power and potential within the body of Christ that is Liberty Church. What made it even more powerful was seeing Jesus (the ribbon) running through the middle, touching ever life, intertwined into every relationship, central to everything we do and bringing a solid core to the life of the church.
As we continue to look at our purpose over this next season I believe the encouragement to us all is that “we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do” (Eph 2:10) and that as we do those things together that God has created us for, “the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work” (Eph 4:16) .
Love and Blessing
