Letter from Jon, January 2018
Dear Friends
It already seems a long time since the start of 2018, but I still want to wish you a very happy New Year. I pray that 2018 will be a year of great joy for you and your families.
Before Christmas I was interviewed by Chris Demetriou (who many of you will know as ‘Julie’s husband’) as part of his college module on Christian mission. Chris asked me a number of questions on various aspects of Liberty Church life and mission, and as we spoke I was reminded again of the great privilege it is to be a part of the Liberty Church Family, serving our local community in this generation. I realise that so often we get immersed in the details of church life (perhaps me more than most as it is my job!), which are really important, but if we are not careful we can lose sight of the bigger picture and why we do what we do. It was refreshing and encouraging to sit with Chris and to talk about the great things that are happening within the Family and to recognise that lives are being changed. We talked about the work amongst the men and the women in the church, about Life Groups and about our outreach ministries and our heart for the local community. We talked about Liberty Centre, a home for the Liberty Family and a place from where we can serve Dunfermline, and as we spoke I found myself getting more and more excited at the prospect of the coming year together.
There is no doubt that 2018 will present some challenges (doesn’t every year!) but I am grateful to be a part of such a loving, supportive community of God’s people, and I look forward to moving forward together and to seeing our dreams and our prayers become a reality.
May we see God’s Kingdom come together this year as people find hope, come to faith and grow together in relationship with God and each other.
Love and Blessings with Great Gratitude
Jon
