Letter from Jon, August 2018

Dear Church Family

I am writing this letter on the day of my parents 60th Wedding Anniversary.  I am very grateful for having had a loving, stable and protected family upbringing, and you will know, if you have been around Liberty for any length of time, that family for Fiona and I is extremely important.

True family brings together people of all generations and of very different personalities (at least ours does), to love, support and nurture each other.  True family provides a place of welcome and refuge for others, shares laughter and celebration as well as tears and grief, finding richness and strength in both.  True family provides a place of example and growth as parents, grandparents and even great grandparents nurture their children.  True family defends and protects and stands with each other.

As I preached last Sunday on the ‘armour of God’, we are never meant to stand alone, and I believe that no person should have to live life on their own.  As Liberty Church enters into its 40th year and prepares to celebrate all that God has done, is doing and has yet to do, we celebrate together as family.

Last week when the Leadership Team met we were considering how blessed we are in Liberty with so many great people with a diverse range of talents and skills but united through our faith in Christ and our love for Liberty Church and for each other.  We have a truly remarkable Church Family and we should never take that for granted.  I believe that this coming season will be a time of great blessing for this Church Family as we press in to our new home, into the presence of our amazing God, and as we celebrate 40yrs of an amazing Family.

Much love and blessing

Jon
