Letter from Jon, February 2020

 Dear Family

Last night we held our Scottish Party Evening; a chance for the Liberty family and friends to come together in our new home to celebrate in good Scottish style.  It was a great evening and another reminder to me of why I love this Church so much.  It was wonderful to have all ages mixed together, to see our kids playing and dancing and singing, and even reciting their poems, and to see the family having so much fun together.

As we move into 2020 we must never take for granted what we have as a community of believers.  I am aware that what we saw last night is not the norm for the majority of our society where so many are desperately lonely.  We have something very special, but it is more than just coming together in a party atmosphere, wonderful though that is.  God has called us into community together, to live in such a way that reveals His character and His glory; a community where there is acceptance, forgiveness, mutual love and support, vulnerability and healing.  Yet it goes way beyond that, because the thing that marks us out above all things is the empowering presence of God himself amongst us.

God’s people have always been called to be a light in the darkness, a people who are blessed by God and who bring blessing to those around them.  That's why part of our vision is to see more people added into our Church family; a family that is not perfect, but who together are seeking to live out the Good News of Jesus Christ and to demonstrate that the Kingdom of God is right here, right now, amongst us.

I believe this year will be a year of great blessing for the Liberty Church family, and an opportunity to invite others to experience what happens when God is here and moving amongst His people.

I thank our Father for the great blessing of being part of this family.

Love and Blessings

Jon
