April 2011

Dear Friends,

It has been a very interesting couple of weeks for the church as we have moved our Sunday meeting venue from Pitcorthie Primary School, where we have been for almost 13 years, to our new venue at Queen Anne High School. The catalyst for the move was an e-mail from Fife Council two weeks ago informing us that we would no longer be able to use the school during holiday time so we had to move fast to secure a new meeting place.

When the e-mail came through my immediate reaction was one of excitement. I believe that this is the right time to move and brings in a whole new season for Liberty Church. I believe that God is moving us into a new environment and a place to grow and flourish.

For those of you who have experienced Sunday morning at Queen Anne you will know that it is a lot newer, a lot smarter and a lot bigger than Pitcorthie. My immediate feeling is one of open space, of room to develop. Often, it is not until you move out of one place into another that you really appreciate and understand how restricted you were before. The truth is that we were filling Pitcorthie and I believe it was starting to restrict our growth. We need space to grow and Queen Anne gives us that space. Fiona likened it to a bamboo plant which was given to us a number of years ago and which was planted in a container. It looked healthy but it was not growing, and so last year we transplanted it to a much larger planter. As we look at it now it seems to fill the new planter. It needed room to grow.

This is a new season, a new step. It is both exciting and challenging. In the midst of this it is so important that we remain firmly rooted in our relationship with God, seeking him, worshipping him, calling on him, listening for his voice.

I don’t know how long we will meet in Queen Anne and we are continuing to search for a new, more permanent home for the church but I do believe that this is a significant step on our journey. We have a great church and a great God who loves us and is calling us into deeper water. Are you ready to go deeper together?

Much love and blessing

Jon
