Pastor's Letter October 2015

 Dear Church Family

Over this past month we have spent time together looking at our vision for Liberty Centre, which we are hoping and praying will become our home as a church.  We have been looking at how any home reflects the family that lives there and we want our home, as a church, to reflect us as a family.  In turn we want the Liberty family to reflect our amazing God.

We have considered our home as a place of welcome, where people feel accepted, safe and relaxed; as a place of nurture, a safe environment where we can all grow together in faith, character, gifting and devotion to our God; as a place of sending, from where we go out into our world to tell what Jesus has done for us, to be a light in the darkness.

As I have been going around Life Groups showing people the plans for the building  I have been encouraged by the faith and vision of those I have spoken with and have found myself growing in vision for a home which can become a centre for church life together, and a place of life and hope for many who have yet to come to faith.

As we move towards this coming Sunday and the opportunity to pledge together for the development of Liberty Centre, I realise that is way more than money we are pledging.  As we come together in worship we come together to say “Amen” to God’s plans for Liberty Church.  We come together to say “count me in – I am part of this Church Family and I commit myself to God’s plans through Liberty Church”.

Whatever you pledge financially this coming Sunday, whether it be a large sum, a small sum, or whether you are simply not able to pledge at all, the most important thing is your commitment to God and heart towards the Liberty Church Family.  I want to give each of us the opportunity on Sunday to commit ourselves together to God’s plans for Liberty Church, for us to respond as one family together to following God and serving him.  To this end I have included a prayer at the end of this letter which I would like us to say together on Sunday.  If you have time then please read these words and consider them in advance of Sunday so that as we come together, we come as one people to give ourselves to God and to see his kingdom come in our community.

Much love and blessing

Jon

Our Father in heaven, we come before you today as one family whom you have brought together, united through the blood of your Son and saved by your amazing grace.  Today, in this place, we commit ourselves together to you and to your plans for Liberty Church, to see your kingdom come and your will done on earth as in heaven.   We bring our gifts, our talents, our skills, our resources and together lay them at your feet. We want to be a part of what you are building here in Dunfermline and in this community, through Liberty Church, and we willingly offer ourselves as an act of worship this day. For yours is the Kingdom, the power and the glory forever.  Amen
