Jon's Pastor's Letter - February 2017
Dear Wonderful Church Family
“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you,
you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing”
John 15:5
These words were spoken by Jesus to his disciples in the moments leading up to his arrest. Jesus is making it very clear here that we, as believers, need to be firmly connected to him if we are to be fruitful in life.
Last Sunday Tim introduced us to a new song in worship, simply called “Jesus”. The song draws us back to the very centre of our faith; to Jesus. It speaks of the “one born for our salvation”, of “a light that overwhelms the darkness”, of one who “carries my healing in his hands”, of “my rock and my Redeemer”. I believe that in this season God is calling Liberty Church back into an intimate and powerful relationship with Jesus. As I look at the life of our Church and the year ahead; as I consider the great things we are doing to build the Church Family and to reach out into our community; as I think about our new home starting to take shape and the potential for life and ministry that comes from there, I realise again that apart from Jesus we can do nothing.
God is encouraging us all to believe again in the powerful name of Jesus; the name that heals and calms and comforts and strengthens and redeems the lost. The name that brings freedom and hope and life. It is the name of Jesus and it stands above every other name. Let us press in again to see the name of Jesus lifted high and to see his Kingdom come in our lives and our world.
Love and Blessings
Jon
