Dunfermline Foodbank
Dunfermline Foodbank opened in September 2012, based in our premises at the time, and is now based in our new premises, Liberty Centre. Although based on our premises, it is a joint initiative supported by many local Churches, with volunteers from the Church of Scotland, Viewfield Baptist Church, the Vine Church and others.
Most of the food is donated by individuals, sometimes directly or via collections in supermarkets, schools, Churches, businesses etc.. It is then sorted by volunteers who check that it is in date and pack it into boxes ready to be given to people in need.
Frontline professionals identify people in need
Care professionals such as doctors, health visitors, social workers, the police and probation officers amongst others are given a supply of Foodbank vouchers which they can issue to people in crisis.
Clients then bring their voucher to the Foodbank where it can be exchanged for three days' supply of emergency food for their household. They will be met by a volunteer who will offer them a cup of tea or coffee and will be able to signpost them to other agencies equipped to assist with longer-term problems.
Dunfermline Foodbank is open 4.00 pm - 6.00 pm on Mondays & Fridays, 2.00pm - 6.00pm on Wednesdays
Liberty Centre, Pitreavie Way, Pitreavie Industrial Estate, KY11 8QS.
