Letter from Jon, June 2018
Dear Family
I am writing this letter on the back of our wonderful Church Holiday Weekend in Arbroath. My apologies to those who weren’t able to make it, but it was a great time away, which we pray will be of benefit to the whole Church family. The weather was amazing, the location was great, the programme was varied and exciting, the food was wonderful and plentiful, and the fellowship was such an encouragement.
As I have been reflecting on the weekend, one of the most wonderful things about our time away was that it was a picture of what church can be. We had a community of people of all ages and backgrounds, and all stages of faith, together for the weekend. Right from the start, as we met together on Friday night, I was bowled over by the excitement, particularly of our children, of being there. People pulled together for the benefit of the whole Church Family, working as teams to get things done. We saw people using their gifts, talents, passions and time for the good of the Church; teaching, worshipping, creating, cooking, administrating, playing, walking, setting up and clearing, encouraging and praying. (It's probably not anyone's passion to clear up but it has to be done!) The times of worship were powerful, the prayer was filled with the presence of God, the meal times were great times for making new friends and building relationships.
It thrills me to see so many people enjoying church. I love that Liberty can be such a place of joy, support, unity, and encouragement, and a place where Jesus Christ is right at the centre. This is the kind of church that transforms lives, giving people hope and setting people free. Thank you for all those who made the weekend so special, and who, week after week, make Liberty Church such a wonderful family to be a part of.
Much love and blessings
Jon
