Letter from Jon, March 2020 


Dear Friends

As Fiona and I were having dinner on Friday evening we were talking about our time in the Liberty Church family and Fiona asked how long I had been working for Liberty.  It only then dawned on me that I started my life as Associate Pastor on 28 February 2005, exactly 15 yrs before. It is amazing how time flies! Indeed Fiona started working for Liberty 20 years ago this month.  We both still consider ourselves to be so blessed to be a part of the Liberty family.  

We came to Liberty back in 1998, drawn by a desire for MORE!  We believed that there was so much more of God for us to experience.  Over these years we have experienced more of God in many ways. We have experienced the power and presence of the Holy Spirit.  We have had our eyes opened through great teaching and new revelation of the nature and character of God. We have been loved, encouraged and challenged by the Liberty Family.  

We are so grateful for these last years but we still believe there is so much more to come.  These are exciting times for Liberty Church. It was a joy to spend time yesterday with our wonderful young people as they explored more of the Holy Spirit.  It has been a joy to worship together in Liberty Centre, and to experience the presence of God. It is a joy to see our new home being used through the week and to see new ministries being birthed.  It is a joy to have received funding to build and equip our new kitchen and all the possibilities that opens up. It has even been a joy to see our Liberty family draw around those who are going through some really tough times recently.

I want to encourage each one of us that however much we have experienced the goodness of God, there is always more to come.  This is a year where we reach for more of His power and presence, and see more people added into this family. At the same time let us not lose sight of the ‘more’ that is happening right now amongst us.  God is great right now. God is moving right now. God is blessing us right now. God’s kingdom is coming right now.  

Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever!  Amen.
