The Bible tells us to "bring the whole tithe into the storehouse."  We understand from this that the tithe should be given to the local church of which we are part.  Some people have had a different view, where they would give a tithe in total, but make a distribution of it; for example, some to missions, some to the Red Cross, some to a TV preacher, and some to the church.  We believe that this understanding is not optimal.  It is perfectly valid to give offerings to these other ministries, but the tithe is for the local church of which we're part.  That's our contact point and our point of belonging to the wider church.  One implication of this is that the local church should give a portion of its income to support the wider work and ministry, as indeed Liberty Church does, and not simply use all its income for its own immediate benefit.   Less ...
