Letter from Jon, July 2022

 Dear Liberty Friends

This is our first day back working after a restoring holiday and also after taking time out through June. It can seem a little daunting returning to work after a holiday or time out, not knowing what problems or issues might have arisen or what challenges you are going to face, but I have to say that it has been such an encouragement to be back today. I started the day by joining the weekly church leaders Zoom prayer meeting which covers Edinburgh, Lothians and Fife and which is such an encouragement to be a part of, praying with leaders from all denominations across the East of Scotland for the church, for the land in which we live and for our own personal situations. I believe that this hour in prayer each week is immensely powerful and paves the way for God to move powerfully in our nation. We then joined Liberty’s own weekly Zoom prayer time, which is always refreshing.

Fiona and I then headed down to Liberty Centre to catch up with Stan before he begins his holiday, to hear about and to see the great progress that has been made over the last months. The building team have been working so hard over these months, largely behind the scenes, knocking down walls, clearing pipes and metalwork, fitting doors and preparing offices and much more as we prepare for the next phase of development within our home. At the moment we don’t know when we will be in a place to commence building work in the auditorium but it is great to see so much preparation taking place and to gain a renewed vision for our home filled with worshippers.

In the church leaders’ prayer meeting this morning we were focussed around Jesus’ prayer in John 17 and we were put into smaller breakout rooms to pray for our churches. As we did that I was aware again of how blessed we are to be part of Liberty. I am aware that there are many in the Church who are struggling with health and in other areas of life at present, but I believe that the God of all hope is very much with us and working in us and through us. I believe that God is preparing us for a fruitful season and I pray that through this Summer you would know the healing, restoring, empowering, joyful presence of the Holy Spirit. May the God of all hope fill us with all joy and peace as we trust in him, so that we may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit (Romans 15:13!)

Much love and even more blessing
Jon
